In 2012 I opened Acorn ish Studio, a small studio/gallery in the old converted forge on the lower Wharf next to the canal and right by the sea in Bude, Cornwall.
It might be small but its perfect for me. I am able to choose my working hours fitting it in around bringing up my 3 children, opening the door to the public and chatting about the things I love to do. People are fascinated when I am free machining often coming back later to see how the piece is progressing. I love meeting like minded creators or people who would like to take a piece of artwork or craft home with them to remind them of their holiday in Cornwall.
I pin up experiments and leave work out so I can live with it until I know where its going next, having several things on the go at any one time and people can
see the pieces evolve and grow.
It’s such a beautiful place to come to work, I get to see the sea everyday and even on the days when the rain’s coming down sideways and there’s not a soul around I can shut the door and busy myself having uninterrupted creating time.
